WELCOME

Lady Captain 2022 -  Aideen Roche

Welcome to the Ladies section at Long Sutton Golf Club.

Our section is going from strength to strength with membership currently in excess of 100.  We pride ourselves on being a most welcoming, encouraging and sociable club, keen to attract lady golfers of all standards to join our established friendly group.  

Each Wednesday morning we run our monthly Stableford and Medal competitions, interspersed with fun competitions.  These are a mixture of individual and team games open to ladies with all levels of handicap.  Working ladies are encouraged to enter the many competitions held on weekend dates.

As a section we are extremely active, in winter playing the Solheim Cup over four rounds and a Winter League.  Throughout the summer we participate in Interclub League matches and Friendlies, Knockouts, Coronation Foursomes to name a few.   We also run a Ladies Open and Invitation Day which is always well attended.  I think it is important to balance out qualifying competitions with some fun and that’s what we are hoping to achieve.

On a social note we have a Lady Captain’s day and Captain’s away day, always great fun.   

We have recently signed up to The Women in Golf Charter which aims to encourage girls and ladies to take up golf and generally improve the profile of women in golf.

We are enormously proud of the amount of money raised by different fund-raising events at the Club during the year.  Our chosen charity for 2022 is MIND in Somerset, and the Ladies will be participating in many ways to raise as much as possible.

I hope that 2022 will allow us to have a full golfing calendar and I as Captain of the Ladies section continue to welcome new members and visitors to join us on a course for a real test of golf all year round.
