The St Margaret’s Somerset Hospice Charity Golf Day at LONG SUTTON GOLF CLUB ~ Friday 3rd July 2020

The Annual St Margaret’s Charity Golf Day takes place at Long Sutton on the first Friday of July each year.

It has been running for over 25 years and in excess of £400,000 has been raised for this worthwhile charity by the members of the club. Many members and friends, both past and present, have benefited from the wonderful service supplied by the hospice.

St Margaret’s Hospice is the largest local charity, caring for those with life-limiting illness throughout Somerset and parts of Dorset and Devon. As well as two hospice inpatient units in Taunton and Yeovil, they also care for those who wish to remain at home with their families and friends, bringing relief from pain and other distressing symptoms. Their aim is to help patients live as actively as possible whilst giving support to their families.

The care they offer is provided completely free of charge and each year they need to raise around £6.5 million to ensure this service is available to those who need it. Only 19% of the money they need comes from NHS, the rest is generated by the people of this very community and they do this to make sure that this help is there for the future for their friends, relations and neighbours.

The support shown by the members and sponsors of this truly remarkable day has had an enormous effect on St Margaret’s ability to sustain the work of their doctors and nurses in treating patients who need specialist care.
